A Profound Experience
I have been a student of Dan Schmidt’s work for over a year now. I have watched Samadhi parts one two and three several times. I have also studied all 4 parts of Inner Worlds Outer Worlds, told anyone who would listen about him and his work, suggest these works to sponsees as great 11th step work, joined his community on awakentheworld.com, practice his meditation teachings, AND still don’t know ‘who’ is observing. AHHHHHHHHHH!
Until today that is.
I was driving home from visiting my dear friend Father Bob at Phelps Hospital where he is recovering from a broken femur (to learn more about Bob see “Bob’s Beads” story above). I was listening to ‘Desert Rain’ from the Samadhi Part 3 soundtrack (breathtaking by the way) pondering again (as I had been all week) “who is observing?” When I do breathwork, “who is observing the breath?” When I see my own energy during meditation, “who is observing this energy?” I know there is no “I”. I know this
So who?!!!!!????!!!? Stumped…
Out of nowhere, without warning and clear as day the answer struck me.
Divine essence, that which I am an expression of, that is to say God, Aba, Spirit, Creator of all that is (call it whatever you prefer), is observing. Divine essence is the observer.
In an instant my entire body, my Spirit, the all of me shifted. I sobbed, hyperventilated, and covered my mouth with my hand. I could not contain the emotion. The intensity with which my entire being experienced this as truth was like nothing I’d ever felt. I cried for 30 minutes and then meditated on it.
No longer stumped.
I am forever changed. I will never look upon myself or any other human being in the same way. This exists in each an every one of us (I believe).
It is a choice to allow its expression or not. I choose to allow its expression.
Now fully in my awareness is this: WHAT DO I WANT GOD TO EXPERIENCE THROUGH ME?
It has changed…everything
